This site is dedicated to my beautiful mom. She was born in Peru, in a small town high up in the Andes Mountains. My mom grew up and worked in my grandma’s shop, which was located on the first floor of their home. As she grew older, she traveled to markets outside of our town to sell the family products. She also attended and graduated from a vocational school located in the capital.
Name of the site
The name of this website, La Pastora, comes from my grandma’s Manjar Blanco shop in our town. She started small and her business grew through the many years she was active.

The recipes
When we migrated to the states, my mom brought this cookbook with her and became one of her favorite possessions. The many dishes she prepared for the family, comes from this book. In the early years living here in the States, some recipes had to be modified because some ingredients were hard to acquire. This book and its pages show the many decades, the wear and tear, of being used in the many kitchens she cooked.
Who would have known that this little book would become a family relic.
